AIM :- To study the effect of topical difluprednate 0.05% and prednisolone acetate 1% administered after cataract surgery on post operative inflammation and IOP in patients >40 years of age.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Prospective clinical study including 150 eyes, 75 eyes in each group. At presentation visual acuity, anterior segment and fundus examination was done. IOP was measured. Patient was analyzed at post op day 1, 1 week, 4 week & 6 weeks.
RESULTS:The mean age of Difluprednate (group1) was 54.6 and Prednisolone (group2) was 60.2. 50.7% had BCVA 6/6 in group1 and 29.33% in group 2 on post op day7. Post op 4week, no patients had AC reaction in group 1 and 4 patients in group2. At post op 6 weeks 1 patient had AC reaction in group2. Mean increase in IOP at post op 4 week in group 1 was 4.30 and in group 2 was 3.07. Mean increase in IOP (≥10mmHg from baseline) at post operative 4 week post operative period was present in 3 patients in group 1 and 2 patients in group 2.
