FP489 : Rare Ocular Presentations in Bilateral Asymmetrical Keratoconus – A Case Series

Dr. Nimisha Sharma, Dr. Niveditha Narayanan

PURPOSE: To report rare ocular presentations in patients with bilateral keratoconus.

METHODS: A case series.

RESULT: We report 6 patients with bilateral keratoconus associated with rare ocular conditions like posterior corneal vesicles (PCV), forceps delivery induced descemet’s membrane(DM) tears, recurrent parsplanitis, Terrien’s Marginal Degeneration(TMD) and iris and choroidal coloboma.

CONCLUSION: Keratoconus is a progressive ectatic disorder of cornea which occurs as sporadic or inherited disorder, presenting either unilaterally or bilaterally. Many genes related to keratoconus have been identified, like COL1A1,VSX1 so far. Terrien’s Marginal Degeneration and choroidal coloboma have already been reported as known associations with keratoconus. Other conditions we have reported could be associations or incidental findings in keratoconus. Further investigations are required in this field.
