Purpose— estimate the occurrence of ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN) and associated risk factors in a tertiary care eye hospital in northern India between 1 january2013 and 31 July 2015
Design—Non-interventional retrospective study
Methods: 28 eyes of suspected OSSN in our speciality clinic between January 1, 2013 and July 1, 2015
Data extracted from medical records database which comprised of detailed medical diagnosis information
Main Outcome Measures: The period prevalence of OSSN and identification of factors associated with disease
Results—Occurrence of OSSN in our population was 0.179%. Studied risk factors included ultra-violet related dermatologic diseases (melanoma, SCC, BCC and actinic keratosis), ocular conditions (pterygium). Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) , Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) related diseases, tobacco use
Conclusion—OSSN is more common in elderly males. The prognosis in OSSN cases after excision biopsy was excellent with no recurrences noted
