Aim : To Study Retinal Changes In Pre Eclampsia And Its Association Between Severity Of Hypertensive Changes And Foetal And Maternal Outcome
Method : A Total Of 50 Patient Diagnosed With Pre Eclampsia Were Included In The Study.A Detailed Obsteric And Ocular History And Examination Was Done .After Delivery, Foetal Outcome Was Assessed By Gestational Age,1min Apgar ,Birth Weight And Still Birth.Maternal Outcome Was Assessed By Mode Of Delivery And Complications.
Results : Atotal Of 20 Patient’s(40%) Of 50 Included Showed Fundal Changes .Grade 1 Hypertensive Retinopathy Was The Commonest Change.Significant Low Birth Weight (<2.5kg) Was Seen In 50 % Of Individuals With Retinal Changes .Poor Maternal Outcome With Lscs Being The Main Mode Of Delivery Was Seen.
Conclusion : Pre Eclampsia Is Associated With Hypertensive Retinopathy Changes Useful In Predicting Various Adverse Effects On Foetal And Maternal Outcome.Fundoscopy Is Simple,Non Invasive Method To Predict Feto-Maternal Outcome.
