To determine the efficacy of trabeculotomy in primary congenital glaucoma(PCG),we retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 76 eyes of PCG,who underwent trabeculotomy as a primary procedure between Jan 2002 to Jan 2010.Pre and postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP),corneal diameter and complications were evaluated.Success rate were measured using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.The pre and postoperative IOP mean difference was statistically significant at 3month,6month,1yr,2yr and 4yr.The probability of complete success at 3month was 95%(n=35,95%CI: 95-88%),at 6month was 92%(n=32,95% CI: 92-84%),at 1yr 85%(n=27,95% CI:79-99%).The complete success rate of 85% was maintained through 4yrs of follow up.The probability of qualified success at 3month was 83%(n=29,95% CI:70-95%),at 6month 57%(n=17,95%CI:40-73%),at1yr44%(n=9,95%CI:27-60%),at3yr16%(n=3,95%CI:4-32%)we conclude that Primary trabeculotomy gives good IOP control,can be considered as as first surgical option in PCG.
