Dr. Venkata Gurumoorthy, G18411, Dr. Selvasekaran Ponnusamy, Dr. Sandhya Rani

Aim : To asses the effects of citicholine treatment in POAG and pre perimetric glaucoma .35 subjects each of normal control, POAG SUBJECTS, AND PREPERIMERIC GLAUCOMA WITH loss of GCC on oct ,were assessed,USING rtVUE for GCC parameters.

Methods : All subjects were treated with a 3 month 1 gm od dose of citicholine and wash out of 60 days was advised before additional treatment.

Results :  The mean GCC IN THE POAG GROUP was 68.2 before and 69.12 after citicholine.. In the pre perimetric group GCC before treatment was 74.2 vs 81.4 after treatment with citicholine The difference was more significant in the pre-perimetric glaucoma group, tested with 2 tail ANOVA.

Conclusion: GANGLION CELL THICKNESS showed an improvement in thickness in especially pre perimetric glaucoma indicating a reversal or improvement of damaged ganglion cells after citicholine neuroprotection. This evidences importance of citicholine treatment more in early stages of glaucoma.
