FP829 : Painless Myositis Presenting As Sudden Ptosis – A Report of Two Cases

Aim : To report 2 cases of myositis presenting as sudden ptosis.

Material and method : Case report

Result : Case 1-A 34 year male presented with sudden painless drooping of the left upper lid since 4 months. Examination revealed moderate ptosis with good levator action and full extraocular movements.MRI showed enlargement of superior rectus levator complex. A diagnosis of myositis was made and he was started on oral steroids and is under follow up Case 2-A 38 year male presented with sudden painless drooping of right upper lid for the past 4 months.On examination he had severe ptosis with moderate levator action and full extraocular movements.MRI showed enlargement of superior rectus levator complex. He was diagnosed to have myositis and stared on oral steroids and is under follow up

Conclusion : Painless myositis is a rare entity and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of sudden ptosis
