FP213 : A Case of Basal Cell Carcinoma with Free Skin Graft Reconstruction

Dr. Ronak Solanki, S16597

A seventy year old lady came with chief complaints of a painful hyperpigmented lesion over the left lower eyelid since 1 year which increased in size over the last 2 months an ulcero-nodular lesion extending from lateral to the medial canthus along the lower lid up to the lateral canthus was identifed with lower lid grade 3 ectropion. Histopathology evaluation showed a multicenteric basal cell carcinoma lower eyelid margin and adjacent skin with inferior margin involvement.A left lower eyelid mass excision biopsy with lid reconstruction with supraclavicular free skin graft under GA was done. Complete surgical excision of BCC is almost always curative, because these lesions rarely metastasize.

By far, surgical modalities are the most studied, effective and used treatments. Prevention is preferable to treatment : increased skin cancer awareness and prevention campaigns to educate community are the key to reduce the incidence of bcc in future.
