FP529 : Analysis of Ophthalmic Diseases and Their Management in Preschool Children Attending Eye Opd in a Tertiary Care Centre

Purpose: To study the pattern of ocular diseases and management modalities offered to preschool children with ocular diseases attending ophthalmology OPD.
Methods: A retrospective descriptive cross sectional study of children between 2 and 5 years of age who attended the ophthalmology opd from January 2011 to December 2015
The ocular disorders were categorized into the following groups:
a) Refractive errors
b) Amblyopia and strabismus
c) Diseases of the Lids, Orbit and Lacrimal apparatus
d) Anterior segment disorders
e) Posterior segment disorders
f) Trauma
The management modalities were categorized into the following groups:
a) Observation
b) Spectacle prescription
b) Medical management
c) Surgical management
Results: 198 children between 2and5 years were analysed, 108(54.6%) were males, 90 (45.4%) females.101(51%) were 4to5 yrs, 53(26.8%) 3to4 years and 44(22.2%) 2to3 years. Refractive errors in 105(55%), Strabismus in 15(7.6%), Amblyopia in 8(4%), 5 due to refractive errors, 2 due to strabism
