FP1408 : A Case Report of Collodion Baby

Two days old girl baby born to 2nd degree consanguineously married parent, delivered by emergency LSCS was presented with parchment like skin lesion all over the body.Birth weight was 1.6 kgs,Gestational age at birth was 32 weeks.No history of similar skin lesions in family.On general examination- parchment like thin yellowish, plastic sheet like membrane covering whole body with numerous cracks, tethering at body orifices with eclabian and constriction band seen around the limbs with autoamputation of left toes.On ocular examination OU: severe ectropion of upper and lower eyelids exposing palpebral conjunctiva, other details was not made out. Dermatologist opinion obtained.Confirmatory diagnosis of collodion baby- Lamellar icthyosis was made.Baby was managed in humidified incubator with nasogastric feed,IV fluids and IV antibiotics.Tear substitutes for both eyes and emmolients were given. Incidence of collodion baby is 1 in 3,00,00 births.This case is presented for its rarity.
