Glaucoma comes silently akin to the marauders who occupied the craggy mountain tops of Tiger Hill and robs our vision. If untreated it advances to the point of no return. We see advanced glaucoma daily in our practice, yet management guidelines are not formulated. Determination of structure and function is difficult in these
patients as the imaging or perimeters are not geared for detecting those subtle changes at near terminal stage. The target IOP often is difficult to achieve with medications and indiscrimate multi pharmacy results in unacceptable side effects. NHS guidelines advocate early surgery for these patients but complications of surgery especially wipe – out syndrome, which though uncommon, is seen in these patients. Additionally
these patients may have co morbidities which need to be addressed with attention to drugs that may interact with antiglaucoma medications. Quality of life of these patients is compromised by the disease, drugs and disabilities. This course will address these complexities of advanced glaucoma with
