Capillary hemangiomas are most common benign tumors of vascular origin in infancy.Though it involutes spontaneously, results are unpredictable.
Aim:Presenting series of 24cases with hemangiomas treated successfully & Discuss various therapeutic options available.
Method:In retrospective study of 24cases, 8 were managed conservatively & 16 were treated with single or combined treatment-Intra-lesional triamcinolone injection & surgical removal. We present review of surgical aspects and clinical course &final outcomes of our cases.
Result:Good-satisfactory in most patients & complications-minimal.Steroid therapy is effective-marked & lasting regression of hemangiomas.
Conclusion:We emphasise early evaluation & intervention because of their effects on visual development in cases with astigmatism, amblyopia, exposure keratopathy, severe cosmetic defect,infection/necrosis. Intralesional triamcinolone should be used as first-line therapy, especially when cost is important concern in rural areas
