FP581 : Evaluation of Morphologic Patterns of DME with OCT and Its Correlation to Visual Acuity

Dr. Samarth Mishra, Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Dr. Anuradha Pradhan

Aim: To describe morphologic patterns of diabetic macular edema (DME) by OCT and correlate with VA. Materials and methods:142 eyes of 106 patients with diabetic retinopathy.OCT showed diffuse retinal thickening (DRT),cystoid macula edema (CME),posterior hyalod traction (PHT),serous retinal detachment (SRD),tractional retinal detachment (TRD).Retinal thickness measured and correlated with VA. Results:Foveal thickness correlated to VA.OCT revealed five morphologic patterns of DME; DRT(61.88%), CME(24.75%), SRD without PHT(6.93%), PHT without TRD(5.45%),PHT with TRD(0.99%).Increasing retinal thickness in all patterns was significantly correlated with worse visual acuity. Conclusion:OCT quantifies macular thickness in DME. DME exhibits 5 patterns. Retinal thickness and VA are corelated.
