FP1089 : Comparative Study of Incidence of Cystoid Macular Edema After Uncomplicated Phaco and Sics Using Oct

AIM -A comparative study of incidence of pseudophakic cystoid macular edema after uncomplicated phaco and MSICS using OCT.

METHODS:The study comprised of 60 patients who underwent OCT after uncomplicated phaco and MSICS.Patients having diabetes mellitus,hypertension,previous ocular surgeries were excluded.Pre operatively visual acuity,slit lamp assessment and fundus examination was done.Post operative visual acuity was recorded with and without correction .

Patients underwent OCT examination on post operative day 1,3rd week,6th week and 12th week.Central Macular thickness and visual acuity was recorded on each visit.RESULT-60 patients have undergone the study,30 phaco and 30MSICS.Till now macular edema was seen in 2 patients of SICS in the two groups.

CONCLUSION-Both phaco and MSICS have been found to be equally good in terms of visual acuity but if compared in terms of incidence of macular edema,phaco has been found to be better.
