2500 subjects of 15 to 25 years age, irrespective of gender biased were evaluated for the status of colour vision perception with the help of Ishihara colour perception test booklet and results were compared with the Martin lantern test to analyze efficacy of both test methods. Total duration of study period was 5 years. Refractive errors of more than one dioptre , any associated systemic or ocular illness or history of any ocular surgery were excluded from the study .85% subjects were found to be CP two and 9 % were below CP three on Ishihara test type. Of these ,75% were found to be CP One .Where as out of 9% below CP three on Ishihara test ,more than two third were found to be CP three .Remaining subjects remained below CP three in both the tests. Ishihara book test type is an effective tool for rapid screening of colour perception for normal purpose. However for highly specific occupational requirements, higher sensitive assessment test are still useful since variation in results are statistically significant.
