COMPARE THE CORNEAL ENDOTHELIUM DENSITY IN NORMAL AND DISEASED INDIVIDUALS
Methods: this is a prospective, randomized study including 94 patients, in which there are 55 normal individuals, 17 patient having cataract, 14 patient having glaucoma, 4 patients having fuch’s dystrophy and 4 patients of post-keratoplasty.patints with Corneal opacity, trauma, Contact lens wearers,Current or past uveitis .TOPCON SP-2000P Noncontact Specular Microscope used in this study.
Results: mean endothelial cell density(ECD) decreases age age of patient increase. Mean CD in 21-30 age group is 3024.3,in decreasing order, maximum 61-70 years age group has mean CD 2324.65.average pre op CD is 2676,and post op 2310.35 in patients undergoing cataract surgery. Mean CD in glaucoma patients is 2208.87 as compared to normal individuals in which it is 2568.9.
Conclusion: corneal endothelial cell loss occurs with aging process,in glaucoma and after cataract surgery
