Methods: This prospective interventional study included uncooperative children aged 1-16 years without acute medical condition but normal cardio respiratory status. Examination under sedation (EUS) was done under oral triclofos [75mg/kg]. The pulse oxymetry, onset and duration of sleep, post sedation neuro-behaviour and cognition were recorded. Results: 39 EUS on 36 children (16 females) were done. The mean age and weight was 2.9year and 11.7kg. The mean duration of the onset and total duration of sleep was 64.7 and 64.4 minutes. There was no significant effect on the pulse-oxymetry (p=0.68, p=0.37). The onset and duration of sleep did not correlate well with age/weight of the children (r=0 and 0.1). The boys slept earlier and longer (by mean 12 minutes p<0.01 and 16 minutes p<0.01). Eye examination could be completed in all; post sedation behavior and cognition remained normal. Conclusion: 75mg/kg oral triclofos was safe and effective for eye examination of uncooperative children.
