Aim: To compare the efficacy and compliance with smart eye glasses and conventional patching in management of Unilateral Refractive Amblyopia.
Material and Methods: Two groups of 07 cases each with unilateral refractive amblyopia in age group 5-7 years were managed with conventional occlusion therapy with patching (Gp A) and smart eye glass occlusion therapy (Gp B), respectively and were followed on monthly basis over a period of nine months for BSCVA on Snellen’s chart. The selection criterion for each group was individual’s ability to buy smart eye glasses.
Results: Cases with smart eye glasses showed higher compliance to treatment as compared to conventional occlusion therapy with patching. There were fewer dips in BSCVA on Snellen’s chart in Gp B as compared to Gp A.
Conclusion: Smart Eye glasses appear to be a promising mode of occlusion therapy as compared with conventional patching.
