FP567 : Eyelid Lacerations – Clinical Characteristics and Causality

A retrospective study was conducted where 60 cases of isolated traumatic eyelid lacerations and its epidemiology ,etiology and associated characteristics were assessed.It found that men exhibited a greater vulnerability with 58(96.6%)affected being men and they were mostly aged between 20 to 30 years old (53.3%). The left eye 34(56.7%) and the upper lid 38(63.4%) were the most common sites of injuries. In terms of the place of trauma, 50 (83.3%) cases occurred in the street,6 cases (10%) occurred at home, and 4 cases (6.6%)occurred at the workplace.occurred at the workplace. As the most common cause of trauma, patients 25(41.7%) had an object hit their eyes. In addition, assaults 24(40%)were a major cause of injury.8 patients(13.4%) were under the influence of alcohol at the time of incidence.This study concludes with highlighting risk factors and provides safety recommendations to reduce the incidence of such occurrences in the future.
