Objective: To compare incidence of infection and damage done by wooden stick with other objects and evaluate other objects causing ocular injury.
Setting: Tertiary care hospital in rural part of central western India.
Design: Prospective cohort study
Result: In our study we have 687 cases out of which 496 open globe cases. Wooden stick is one of the most common objects of injury in rural setting. Wooden stick despite of traditional belief not associated with any infection, final visual outcome is significantly better than injury by other objects.(p=0.002)
Conclusion: Despite of wooden stick is common object of injury it is important predictive factor for better visual recovery and not associated with any infection.
