Dr. Mitali Khodani, K14318, Dr. Subhadra Jalali

Aim:To report outcomes of adjunct intravitreal Triamcinolone (IVTA) for severe exudative retinal detachments (ERD)and retinal telengiectasia in Coats disease.

Methods:9 Patients received 4 mg of IVTA to reduce the fluid as an adjunct therapy to definitive ablative treatment with laser or cryopexy or both.

Results: 7 patients had Coats disease stages 3A or worse; 1 had adult retinal telengiectasia and 1 had atypical telengiectasia with retinoschisis. After mean follow up of 4.5 months, 7 had complete resolution of fluid, 1 had partial resolution and 1 had no response. Vision improved in 6, stabilised in 1 and remained poor in 2. 1 eye had raised intraocular pressure.

Conclusion: Eyes with ERD or fluid cysts where laser or cryopexy are difficult seem to benefit from a single IVTA Injection
