FP1390 : Unusual Presentation in A Case of Bietti Crystalline Corneoretinopathy

Dr.Gaurab Majumdar, M11973, Dr. Thomas Kuriakose

Bietti described a triad consisting of yellowish-white glistening intraretinal crystals in the posterior pole, tapetoretinal degeneration & crystalline corneal dystrophy. We report a case of SRNVM in a presumed case of Bietti Crystalline Corneoretinopathy (BCC) in our hospital & present our reasons for its aetiology.

A 42 year old gentleman presented with gradual decrease in vision (OU) & nyctalopia for the past 10 years. Examination revealed crystals in both cornea & posterior pole; OD showed macular scarring with hyper-pigmentation, OS showed multiple scattered hard drusen. SD-OCT showed high-reflective intraretinal deposits. FFA showed window defects corresponding to areas of RPE & choriocapillaris atrophy with blocked fluorescence along areas of crystalline deposits; OD also showed staining suggestive of scarred CNV.

CNV is a rare event in BCD; to date, only three cases have been reported in literature. Considering the pathology, it is surprising more cases have not been reported.
