FP1190 : An Interesting Case of Chorioretinitis Sclopetaria Due to Firecracker Injury

An young 13 yr old girl presented with loss of vision in left eye (hand movements ) following firecracker injury. On evaluation she did not have any extra ocular injury , expect temporal subconjuctival hemorrhage anterior segment was normal , fundus showed vitreous haemorrhage in her left eye.Patient was treated conservatively.

On review after 3 weeks her vision did not improved,fundus showed broad area of retinal whitening extending from peri papillary area to the posterior pole involving macula surrounded by extensive retinal haemorrhage and oct findings suggestive of chorioretinitis sclopetaria.

This is a rare condition usually occurs due to gunshot or paint ball injuries but very rare in firecracker injury. Patient was managed conservatively and advised regular follow up.
