VT230- Rhexis – Mastering the Circle

Dr.Aswin PR, Dr.Haripriya Aravind

The continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis is one of the most important steps in modern cataract surgery. Mastering the rhexis reduces complications, makes management of complex situations easier and paves the way to better surgical outcomes. Beginners usually tend to face a solid brick wall when it comes to making a rhexis. This video, meant for beginners, aims to tear down that wall with emphasis on practicing techniques at home, in the wet-lab and on the simulator. Capsular staining techniques, instrumentation and tips to achieve more consistent results will also be dealt with. Management of complications during rhexis such as a small rhexis or run-away rhexis is also demonstrated.
