Dr.Suraj Bhagde, Dr.Suvarna Bhagde

The pair of Irrigation and Aspiration Hand Pieces is an indispensible tool in modern cataract surgery. Traditionally, the Irrigation Hand Piece is used only to maintain a steady inflow of Irrigating Solution into the eye during a cataract surgery. However, the present video demonstrates all the different tasks for which the same instrument can be put to use. The list of utility includes steps like Delivery of Epinucleus and smaller Nuclear Fragments, Hydro-implantation of IOLs, Removal of Viscoelastic after IOL implantation, Posterior Capsular Polishing, Irrigation during Anterior Vitrectomy, Tapping of PCIOL just before wound closure, and Cortex Aspiration during Small Pupil amongst other miscellaneous uses. These steps along with their rationale and advantages will be demonstrated in details in the video.
