VT262 – Implantation irido-corneal cysts in children

Dr.Swapna Shanbhag, Dr.Muralidhar Ramappa, Dr.Sunita Chaurasia

Implantation iris cysts are translucent cystic masses resulting in gradual collateral damage to intra-ocular structures and may result in irreversible corneal decompensation, cataract or secondary glaucoma, compromising visual functions. We are describing the various types of iris implantation cysts, possible cause for epithelial down growth, morphological classification, underlying ocular comorbidities, if any, and detailed pre-operative Ultra bio microscopic (UBM) examination to better strategize the surgical approach. Surgical modifications for different types of irido corneal cysts, timing of surgical intervention, and considerations for additional procedures such as marsupialization, iridectomy, cyclectomy, combined lensectomy with vitrectomy, and fistulectomy with corneal grafting are presented as an algorithm.
