Purpose :The purpose is to study vascular occlusions in orbital cellulitis.
Materials and Methods : A case of 35years old female, presenting with sudden onset of pain and fullness of left eye and fever since 4 days.
There was tenderness, redness of left orbital region with proptosis and marked restriction of movements. There was RAPD with BCVA 6/36. Fundus revealed occlusion of a branch of supero-temporal artery with mild NPDR changes.
Result : Investigations revealed high blood sugar, acute kidney disease. No foci of infection found. FFA confirmed blockage of branch of supero-temporal artery subserving the supero-macular area.Patient was treated conservatively due to poor general condition.3 months follow-up revealed left eye optic atrophy and lateral rectus palsy.
Conclusion : Orbital cellulitis is one of the important cause of ocular morbidity in adults, specially in diabetics, debilitated and immuno-compromised individuals with varied rare complications, like vascular occlusion.
