In our retrospective observational study we have analyzed the medical records and optical coherence tomography image of patients with idiopathic macular hole for vitreomacular interface and foveal structural changes in fellow eye.
Incidence of epiretinal membrane, posterior vitreous detachment, vitreomacular traction, cystoid changes, lamellar macular hole was more common in fellow eye of patients with idiopathic macular hole.
So it was concluded that there is high frequency of abnormal vitreoretinal interface and foveal abnormalities in fellow eye of patients with idiopathic macular hole which predisposes to formation of macular hole in that eye.
