Purpose: To describe clinical, imaging, and histopathology features of 4 patients with invasive Ocular Squamous cell carcinoma (OSSN) with intraocular invasion.
Methods: Retrospective study analyzing demographic, clinical, imaging (MRI, ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM)) and histopathology features of 4 patients of OSSN with intraocular invasion.
Results: History of multiple surgeries was present in all 4; 1 case masqueraded as nodular scleritis, 3 had history of immunosuppression and 1 had history of steroid use. Three had clinical signs of invasion while UBM picked up intraocular invasion in 1 case. Enucleation was performed in 3 and exenteration in 1 case. Postoperative external beam radiotherapy was advised in all. Histopathology revealed well differentiated SCC in all 4 cases.
Conclusion: Well differentiated OSSN may present with intraocular extension if there is history of repeated surgery and/or immunosuppression. Careful clinical evaluation and UBM should be done in all such case.
