Dr. Mehul Rameshbhai Patel, P18712, Dr. Snehal Rajendra Ganatra

Iridoschisis is a rare condition wherein there is separation of the anterior iris stroma from posterior stroma and muscle layers.
Twenty year old male presented to us with history of ocular trauma 4 years back. On slit lamp examination, OS: separation of iris layers superiorly and anterior layer was attached to corneal endothelium with superior corneal thinning. Ultrasound biomicroscopy demonstrated iridoschisis and peripheral anterior synechiae.

The finding of iridoschisis is a warning for the ophthalmologist to be vigilant at the regular review and exclude any association with glaucoma. It is possible that this patient could develop glaucoma in later years.
