Purpose : To compare the Macular And Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness in Amblyopic And Normal Children Of 5-18 Age Group ”
Method : A Comparative CROSS SECTIONAL study.32 amblyopic patients of 5-18 years of age and 60 eyes of 30 normal children ages 5 to 18 years .Macular and RNFL thickness were measured using SD-OCT after proper consent and compared .
Result : There was statistically significant difference in mean macular thickness of amblyopic 264.781±19.5 and non amblyopic eye 255.15±21.55 in 32 patients. (P value=0.046) .RNFL thickness was not found to be statistically significantly increased in amblyopia eye 96.25±29.66 as compared to Non amblyopic eye 92.80±29.66(p value=.31)
Conclusions :statistically significant difference in mean macular thickness of amblyopic eye but RNFL thickness was not significantly increased in amblyopic eyes, when compared with fellow normal eye. These results are similar to previous studies.
