FP1205 : A Prospective Non Randomized Study of Eyelid Tumours Based on Clinicopathological Analysis

A total of 59 patients were enrolled in tertiary eye care hospital in southern Indian population. Probable clinical diagnosis was established which was confirmed with histopathological examination. Patients were followed at 1 , 3 & 6 months.51 cases (86.4%) were benign and 8 (13.6%) malignant.Age range of 9 months to 85 years. Study shows that the benign tumours are seen predominently in the age group of 20-40 years(34%), while malignant tumours dominate in the age group of more than 60 years(66.7%).Eyelid tumours seen more in females (64.4%).Location of the tumour is upper lid in 40 cases (67.8 %),lower lid in 18 cases .2 out of 4 cases of Basal cell carcinoma showed pigmentation.most common benign lesion was sebaceous cyst followed by squamous papilloma & dermoid cyst.17 cases (28.8%) were misdiagnosed clinically , corrected after histopathology.Histopathology has crucial role to play in diagnosis.Tumorous eyelid lesions show varied clinical presentation with regional influence.
