AIM:To evaluate the ophthalmic manifestation of orbital metastasis due to neuroblastoma
METHODS:Retrospective study of 5 children of age between49-70month between july2013 to april2016 attending RIO referred from pediatric oncology dept. All were confirmed by histopathology.
RESULTS:Average age at presentation was 59.4months(49-70).M:F= 3:2. 4children out of 5 had metastasis originated from adrenal gland and 1 from paravertebral thoracic neuroblastoma.Ocular findings revealed 4(80%) u/l proptosis,3(60%) restricted motility, 3(60%) periorbital ecchymosis,2(40%)subconjuctival hemorrhage.Secondary complication of t/t were RAPD &↓VA in 1(20%),optic atrophy in1(20%).
CONCLUSION:Most common ocular finding is proptosis.Ocular involvement ranges from symptom free metastasis to vision threatening orbital involvement. Hence early diagnosis & staging is needed to manage & monitor the visual out come that provide good supportive t/t to both primary disease&secondary ophthalmic complication.
