FP1440 : Neurological Conditions Presenting with Ocular Manifestations. Dr. Vaishali Lalit Ooney

Aims & Objectives : To study the various Neurological conditions presenting with ocular manifestations
Materials & Methods : Observational study of 20 patients out of which 16 patients(80%) presented with headache ,2 patients (10%) with exotropia & 2 patients (10%) with ptosis. On dilated fundus examination Papilloedema was noted in 16 patients(80%) , disc pallor in 2(10%) & normal fundus in 2 (10%)patients. The patients were further evaluated and MRI and CT scan imaging were done.
RESULT: On imaging, 16(80%) patients presenting with headache and papilloedema, showed Neurological manifestations like Saggital Sinus Thrombosis, Tuberculoma, Neurocysticercosis ,Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis. Patients presenting with exotropia(n=2, 10%) were found to have Orbital tumours , & those presenting with ptosis(n=2, 10%) as Myasthenia Gravis.
CONCLUSION: It is imperative to screen/examine each case of headache or other ocular symptoms diligently so as to diagnose neurological conditions.
