AIM: To compare parameters of scheimpflug imaging with Pentacam in keratoconus and normal eyes

METHODS: Retrospective, observational case series. The study compared parameters of keratoconic and normal corneas in refractive, topometric and Belin-Ambrosio enhanced ectasia display maps in Pentacam and determined efficacy in terms of sensitivity and specificity of these parameters.

RESULTS: 54 keratoconus and 50 normal eyes with mean age 20.36 ± 3.97 and 24.6 ± 3.52 years, respectively were included.
All parameters showed statistically significant difference between two groups except distance from corneal apex-thinnest location (?=0.2), AC volume (P=0.124) and AC angle (P=0.311). K max, ISV, front difference in Belin-Ambrosio map and D value showed excellent (>90%) sensitivity and specificity.

CONCLUSION: Parameters derived from Pentacam effectively discriminate keratoconus from normal eyes especially K max.
