Aims: To assess the surgical outcomes of BBG assisted ILM peeling and SF6 gas tamponade in idiopathic macular holes with 2 day of face-down.

Methods: This was a hospital based prospective, interventional case-series of 26 patients undergoing macular hole surgery BBG assisted ILM peeling, and 20% SF6 gas tamponade with 2 day of face-down.

Results: At a 6-weeks, macular hole closure was noted in 22/26 patients (84.61%). 9 (34.61%) patients had hole closure on 1st postoperative day; and 14 patients (53.85%) had closure on 2nd postoperative day. Mean BCVA in preoperative period was 0.109 ± 0.042 and improvement in BCVA at 4 week 0.112 ± 0.057 but it was not statistically significant p=0.688 but at 6 week period Mean BCVA was 0.152 ± 0.078 which was very significant p=0.001.

Conclusion: Vitrectomy with BBG assistedILM peeling and a short-acting gas tamponade using SF6 with 2 dayof face down position gives a high success rate and early visual recovery in macularholesurgery.
