FP1519 : One Year Study of Outreach Community Department’s Referral Pattern At An Eye Hospital

Purpose: To assess outreach community departments (OCD) referral pattern at an Eye Hospital from Apr 2015 to Apr 2016.

Method: 444 out of 17,000 patients were referred by OCD to various specialities: Cornea(C), Retina(R), Glaucoma(G), Squint(SQ), oculoplasty(OC) and were analysed based on age and gender.

Results: 444 patients had mean age 54.6 years. Males(M) and females(F) had mean age of 54.8 and 54.4 years respectively (p=0.8). 18% had been referred to G with 16% F and 20% M (p=0.39) with common age was 5th decade (dec) (24%). 16% were referred to C with 15% F and 17% M (p=0.62) with common age was 4th dec(46%). 6% were referred to SQ with 6% M and 5% F(p=0.72) with patients in 2nd dec were 54%. 44% were referred to R with 43% M and 45% F(p=0.56) with common age was 3rd dec (57%). 7% were referred to OC with 5% M and 9% F with common age was 4th dec.

Conclusion: Maximum referrals were for Retina specialty and based on age variable distribution for referral specialties were noted
