Aim:To determine the intra&interobserver variability of two Scheimpflug based camera systems,Pentacam &Sirius. In addition, the comparability of the measurements was tested in healthy subjects, those with regularastigmatism,&keratoconus(KC)patients
Methods:Intra&interobserver variability were assessed in 20 healthy corneas.Pachymetry(Pachy) values were also compared with ultrasound pachy as a reference. To detect possible differences between the two devices,82 eyes with clinically established KC,30 eyes with regular astigmatism(>1.5 D),and 60 eyes without corneal pathologies were included in prospective study.
Results:Pachy and keratometry(Kera) showed good intra&interobserver variability for both devices.Pachy values obtained with the Sirius system were significantly higher compared to the Pentacam system and to ultrasound pachy.
Conclusion:Both devices show almost perfect reproducibility in healthy subjects. However, pachy & Kera values of the two devices should not be used interchangably
