PURPOSE: To report case of chronic multifocal CSR treated as serpiginous choroiditis.
METHODS:Case report
RESULT:53 year old male presented with best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) 6/60 in right eye and 6/12 in left eye with few vitreous cells.Fundus was suggestive of serpiginous choroiditis.Systemic evaluation ruled out infective etiology.Oral steroids were started on clinical suspicion. After 2 months both eyes BCVA worsened to 3/60 with bilateral multiple subretinal fluid(SRF) pockets and inferior exudative retinal detachment.Fundus Fluorescein angiography(FFA) was suggestive of chronic bilateral multifocal CSR. Steroids were stopped promptly.Meticulous focal laser was done to all leaks. At 1 month review vision improved with reduction of SRF and resolution of all leaks.
CONCLUSION:Chronic healed CSR may mimick serpiginous choroiditis and should be diagnosed and treated cautiously.Steroids may exacerbate the CSR and a close follow-up with early treatment can result in visual recovery.
