Dr. Alok Ranjan, R18966, Dr. Mohan Shalini

AIM- To improve cosmesis/visual disturbances in pts of corneal opacity(CO) using newer organic micronised pigment.

METHOD- 28pts with CO willing to undergo ISKP included from tertiary care centre.2 pts lost to follow up,so 26 pts included in study & followed up for1 yr. Pts included in study-(1)Blind eyes(2)Eyes with no hope for visual recovery(3)Eyes with eccentric scars&(4)Eyes with corneo-iridic scars.

RESULT-Out of 26 pts 08(32%) had deepCO & underwent microkeratome assisted ISKP &17(68%) pts with superficial CO underwent needle puncture ISKP.1 patient of thick anterior capsular plaque & distorted pupil underwent both procedures. Post op. redness, lacrimation, pain &ocular discomfort resolved within a week with microkeratome assisted ISKP. On slit lamp examination pts with needle tract ISKP didn’t find uniform pigmentation as compared to lamellar pocket ISKP.

CONCLUSION-Corneal tattooing can be a cost effective procedure for long term/permanent correction of cosmetic eye deformities.
