In this cross-sectional study,40 eyes of 40 NTG and 40 eyes of 40 HTG patients were recruited. Visual fields analyzed by HFA 30-2. Pointwise analysis, area analysis, PSD, MD and defects extending within 10° of fixation was compared. RNFL thickness by SLO SD OCT was compared in 8 regions. CCT measured and paired t test applied.

There was no relevant difference in the pointwise analysis between NTG and HTG; however NTG patients had defects closer to fixation and more in inferonasal fields. Overall mean RNFL thickness was more for NTG 84.90±24.20 µm vs. 73.50±27.17 µm, p=0.037 however mean RNFL thickness was reduced inferonasally in NTG. Mean CCT of patients with NTG was lower than HTG 518±33 µm vs 540 ± 20 µm.

Conclusion : Patterns of visual field damage, RNFL thickness and CCT differed between HTG and NTG.
