Aims – To study the efficacy of B-scan USG in diagnosis of different manifestation of closed globe injuries.

Materials & Method – Present study was conducted on 54 patients with closed globe injuries. A detailed history & thorough examination including V/A, slit lamp, fundoscopy, slit lamp biomicroscopy and routine x- ray orbit were done. B-scan usg was done in all cases irrespective of media opacity.

Results & Observation – This study showed that majority of the cases were within the age group of 21- 30 yrs(38.88%) with male predominance(6.7: 1). Farmers(25.92%) and students(27.77%) were most commonly affected. Most common offending agents were metallic objects(24.07%). In opaque media the sensitivity of USG was 95% while the sensitivity of clinical procedure was 25%.

Conclusion – The present study concluded that B-scan USG has an important role in the diagnosis of closed globe injuries, not only with opaque media but also with clear media.
