FP914 : Lucky Eye

Purpose:To report an extremely unusual case

Examination: A 32 year old patient came to the ophthalmology emergency deptartment with the history of road traffic accident. On examination patient had a large tree branch measuring about 5 to 7 cms outside the eye and pentrating deep within too. Globe details were not seen. No vision obtainable in the injured left eye.Patient underwent an emergency xray of skull and orbit and the wooden stick was found to be penetrating deep within upto the clivus.

Method:Patient was taken into the operation theatre and operated and stick removed completely.

Conclusion: Patient obtained vision of 6/6 by Snellen’s vision chart after surgery in 15 days.
