IC409 – UNCOMPROMISED CATARACT SURGERY IN THE PRESENCE OF A COMPROMISED CORNEA.

Dr. Rishi Swarup [S09772] – Hyderabad

The session will bring together cataract and corneal specialists to discuss aspects of cataract surgery in compromised corneal conditions. Presentations will include an overview of conditions of the cornea that have a bearing on the outcomes of cataract surgery. Discussions supported by video presentations will include approaches to cataract surgery in corneas compromised by ocular surface disease, opacities, degenerations and dystrophies and trauma, low endothelial counts and post-refractive status. Videos will illustrate a range of procedures including phacoemulsification and MSICS performed in isolation or with penetrating or lamellar keratoplasty. Special emphasis will be given on Wound selection, technique modification and IOL calculation & choosing the appropriate IOL in various corneal conditions.
