IC79 – PEDIATRIC CATARACT SURGERY DEBATE

Dr. Lav Kochgaway [K08212] – Kolkata

Decisions in pediatric cataract surgery have always been a dilemma owing to the complex nature of the problem. This instruction course would include issues of Pediatric Cataract Surgery that have two or more school of thoughts. Pros and cons of each of these views would be discussed. Some of the common issues which all of us face at some point are – earliest age for IOL implantation, what type of IOL to implant, what should be the target refraction! Management of subluxated lens in children would be discussed. Whether IOL should be implanted in Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis? How to manage unilateral pediatric cataracts – both in
terms of earliest age in which IOL would be implanted and the steep myopic shift in these children? We will try to find answers to these video assisted instruction course. CD with compilation of surgical videos and presentations on these topics would be provided to attendees for future reference.
