This video-based Masterclass deals with genesis, management & prevention of unexpected surgeon/ tech- nique-related complications in hacoemulsification (PE) in uncomplicated cataracts. Masterclass will demon- strate complications encountered during all steps of PE (uncomplicated/ difficult cataracts) & will offer a stepwise strategy to prevent & manage them. Complications & remedial measures demonstrated in a CASE BASED APPROACH include wound burns, rhexis extension/retrieval, two-stage rhexis, use of microrhexis forceps/scissors in tricky cases, incomplete/difficult hydrodissection, hurdles in phaco chop, misplaced CTRs, inappropriately used iris hook, and more. High quality video clips are used to illustrate the issues discussed. At the end of the Master Class, attendees will have learned how to avoid & successfully manage certain intraop complications that can not only mar the postop outcome but can also lead to sight-threatening se- quelae.
