PURPOSE: To demonstrate a novel technique of internal fixation of dropped PMMA IOL with dialing hole.
METHODS: Scleral fixation of dropped poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) intraocular lens (IOL) was done in cases with posteriorly dislocation of IOL without adequate capsular support. This video demonstrates all the steps of fixation of the dropped IOL with dialing hole internally without explanting the IOL. The surgical video and the animation illustrate this technique.
Conclusion: This is a novel technique of fixation of PMMA IOL with dialing hole without exteriorizing the IOL or its haptic. This technique has additional advantages like using the same IOL for fixation, no need of additional corneal or scleral incisions, no risk of hypotony. Over a follow up duration of 3 years all the eyes maintained good stability and centration with minimal movement of IOL during ocular movements.
