The primary function of the iris is to act as a diaphragm regulating the amount of light entering the eye. Causes of iris deficiency(Aniridia), include congenital and acquired(trauma and iatrogenic). Traumatic iris deficiency is also frequently associated with ocular abnormalities including corneal scarring, zonular dialysis, ruptured capsule, angle recession, and even retinal damage.Patients commonly complain of glare and photophobia. This video demonstrates the technique of aniridia IOL implantation in a case of traumatic aniridia.A 5 mm wide limbal incision was taken.Sutures were passed through Hoffman pocket and Aniridia IOL was sutured and scleral fixated.Implantation of anirdia IOL results in cosmetically and functionally satisfactory postoperative outcome.
