We have followed a special way of polishing posterior capsule to prevent posterior capsule opacification in 30 eyes (Prospective Study). This procedure consists of using slightly roughened posterior surface of simcoe cannula, 3-5 mm near the tip, to polish the capsular bag after complete removal of nucleus & cortex etc…, plenty of viscomet is used to balloon out the bag at starting of polishing. P.C. is rubbed, polished with this special cannula slowly for 2-3 mints central 5-6 mm of P.C. is cleaned in a circular fashion and sweeping strokes are used in the four corners of the bag. B.S.S. flow rate is kept at zero level during polishing. 5ml of B.S.S. mixed with 2-3 drops each of moxiflox and triamcilone are used to irrigate the bag. Again bag is cleaned with only B.S.S.
Result:
We have followed all these cases for 1 yr and all of them did not develop P.C.O. All these case got BCVA of 6/6 P, long term results are yet to be studied is large no of cases.
