FP962 : To Compare Rotational Stability of Single-Piece Open-Loop Acrysof and Technis Toric IOL

Dr. Ratan Kumar K, R04455, Dr. Uma Tripathy

PURPOSE: To retrospectively compare the early rotational stability of AcrySof toric IOL with that of Technis Toric.

METHODS:100 eyes of AcrySof toric IOL were compared with 100 eyes of Technis toric. In addition to the deviation from the desired axis, the change in refractive cylinder was measured 1 month postoperatively.

RESULTS: The two groups had similar distribution of patient profiles. In the AcrySof group 100% of the IOls were aligned within 15 degrees of the desired axis and in the Technis group 97%.The mean IOL rotation was 3.33+/-3.41 degrees in the AcrySof and 5.56+/-8.43 in Technis. One AcrySof IOL (1%) and Five technis(5%) were 15 degrees or more off axis.No AcrySof IOL and Three tecnis Toric IOls (3%)required surgical repositioning.

CONCLUSION:Both toric IOL had good rotational stability and effective in reducing pre-existing corneal astigmatism.Based on the mean axis deviation and the number IOLs rotating 15 degrees or more, the AcrySof showed statistically better stability.
